SF Studios’ production The Abyss tops the list as the most watched non-English film on Netflix

SF Studios' disaster film The Abyss (Swedish title: Avgrunden), which premiered in Swedish cinemas in September last year, has become a worldwide sensation on Netflix. During the first two weeks since its release on February 16, the film has attracted a total of 29,200,000 views and been the most watched non-English film for two consecutive weeks.

The Abyss is the first Swedish large-scale disaster film about devastating events taking place in the mining town of Kiruna and the iron mine Kiirunavaara. The film is directed by Richard Holm and stars Tuva Novotny, Kardo Razazzi, Peter Franzén, Felicia Maxime, and Edvin Ryding in the leading roles. Joakim Hansson has produced the film for SF Studios.

The Abyss is produced by SF Studios in co-production with Filmpool Nord and in collaboration with Film Tampere, Mjölk Movies, Business Finland, Seven Islands Production, Gran Canaria Film Commission and Spanish Tax Rebate in collaboration with The Spanish Government and U-media with the support from Belgian Tax Shelter.

SF Studios has previously produced many films and series for Netflix including the Danish drama Ehrengard - The Art of Seduction, Swedish series Snabba Cash, the Swedish thriller Red Dot and the Danish thriller Loving Adults that have been well received by international media and audiences.
